Sorath form Czech was a totally unknown band for me, till I received the promo of ?Vivimos En Perpetua Guerra?. The band is alive since 1993 and released until today 2 demos, a split-CD, a 7? EP and ?Vivimos En Perpetua Guerra? is their third CD. So we can say that Sorath is a quite experienced band.
I?m very surprised by this album. Sorath?s music is full of melody and aggression which is, in my opinion, in a perfect balance. It?s hard to compare Sorath with other bands, see their style of music as up-tempo Black metal with melodic Gothenburg style Death metal influences played in a thrashy way with elements of bands like Impaled Nazarene, Rotting Christ, Destroyer 666 and (old) Dark Tranquillity in it. The album contains 11 songs which are raging through my speakers in only 34 minutes.
Halfway the album there is a song called ?The Curse of Balance?, this song must be inspired by Metallica?s ?Motorbreath?, the building of the songs is almost the same and also some ?Motorbreath? riffs have been lend by Sorath. This song is together with energetic songs like ?My Last Heraldic Sign?, ?In the Loathsome Cradle of Wiched Christians? and ?The Teacher of Wisdom? the highlight of the album, although there isn?t one bad song on it.
?Vivimos En Perpetua Guerra? is a very good album, and for me a great acquaintance with this talented band. Check out this album, and experience the 11 intense yet melodic pieces of aggression.
