CHAOS CREATION (FIN)
PSYCHED-OUT MANIPULATION Self financed
Written by Danny Bosters on Monday 15 May, 2006. Last updated on Monday 15 May, 2006
Chaos Creation, the brain scrambling moshpatrol from Finland is back with their second demo. After their frist demo they recruited a second guitar player in the shape of Mikko Knuutila, who also handles some of the backing vocals. With again a cool cover I start listening to this demo.
The coming of a second guitar player made Chaos Creation?s music sound more full. It?s easier to combine riffs and solo?s this way of course, and it?s way cooler in a live situation. As you may know, Chaos Creation?s music is all about eighties thrash. Especially speed/thrash from the US, so think Exodus, Vio-Lence, SOD, Anthrax, Megadeth, sliiight DRI and so on. Nothing changed with this, as on ?Psyched-Out Manipulation? this is still the deal. However, their musical course has changed a bit. Where their first demo was more about the up-speed thrash moshers with melody and tranquility weaved through every here and there, the three songs on this demo are more of the slowed down and dragging kind. Actually, only the second song, ?Total Thrashing Dreamstate?, is the one to bash in some faces in the pit. The first and the last song are more tuned down, with an occasional speed shift here and there. For instance, the last song can be a bit compared to Exodus? ?Toxic Waltz?, to give you an idea. The songs definitely rock. Though there?s nothing new on the horizon this is, once again, a pleasant piece of music to listen to. Good songs, maybe even a bit more balanced this time because of the wider variation in musical approach and speed paces that sound quite enthusiastic. Again, I do have to say that some parts sound like they should?ve exploded more, but this is less than on their first demo and probably because this time the songs are more on a headbang-pace than on a mosh pace (except for the one I mentioned).
Nice second effort, good enough-production and basically just thrashing entertainment. I do have my doubts if this is the shit that will lead to a big record deal nowadays (though I hope so) but Chaos Creation knows how to lay down the old school thrash. To quote the band: don?t stress with it, THRASH with it!
