CHAOS CREATION (FIN)
HOMICIDAL PARTY TIME Self Released
Written by Kim Kerger on Tuesday 10 April, 2007. Last updated on Tuesday 10 April, 2007
The punch line is "Don't stress with it. Thrash with it".
I couldn't have said it better myself because that's what you get with "Homicidal Party Time". It’s the third demo from Finish quartet Chaos Creation that have been in the metal scene since 2004. You might have noticed that you don’t have to take these guys serious. If you don't have that impression yet, you should check out the band's description. They intend to describe themselves as "the hard-assed, brain-scrambling moshpatrol" from time to time which clearly speaks for itself. This humour is also reflected in the lyrics which are very funny and good. It's not that they make a joke out of themselves. For me they are a fresh air amongst all the bands that want to be taken serious. That's what I really appreciate about Chaos Creation. Some good old fashion amusement can't hurt, right? When you listen to the music you hear it's a band that just wants to get together, play music and enjoy themselves (and probably there's lots of beer involved too). Isn't that what Metal is all about? Playing music you like and not giving a fuck about what other people think about it? Well, I think we should all respect that.

"Homicidal Party Time" consists of 4 tracks. 3 headbang ready songs and 1 instrumental filler. The demo begins with a short intro. Imagine that somebody like Jack from The Shining says a few scary words and ends it with some sort of demonic laugh. Next is the music. Thrash metal riffs combined with solid drumming and humoristic lyrics is what Chaos Creation offers us. During the first 2 songs they leave a very good impression. They show their potential and showcase their skills. They seem to be a band that can produce solid music and quality. The third song "Ghost" is a short instrumental track. In my opinion it's there to fill up the demo because I don't really see the point of it. It's nothing special. Only to show off what the guitar players are capable of doing. But I'm not impressed by it. This small interlude takes us to the final track and climax of the demo "Corpsepaint Cavalry". This is by far the best song on the demo. Musically it's better than the first two tracks. On the lyrical point of view it exceeds everything else on this demo as well. It made me laugh a lot. Immediately after the first listen I went searching for the lyrics which I normally never do. The song makes fun of the black metallers and the black metal scene. I like Black Metal but if stuff like "Embrace the cold, avoid the sun. Cause the march of the penguins has begun." can't even put a smile on your face, you really have a problem.

Chaos Creation is a band with the balls to play Thrash Metal. They do it right and they won't disappoint the people who like Thrash. If it was up to me, this would be their last demo and they would be putting out a full album by the end of this year. The future's bright but we can’t predict it. Nevertheless, I wish them all the best.
