With a new drummer on board, Demiricous has delivered their second release: 'Two (Poverty)'. While their first album ‘One’ was characterized by the old school thrash style, with this album they take a different approach.
The thrash is still there, but I hear also that they are not averse for the hardcore style. With this album you will de served by 12 high energetic songs. The tempo is never dull, and sometimes even unpredictable. You will treat by drum blasts, and aggressive guitar riffs. And talking about aggressive, the voice, or better-said screams, of Nate Olp is fitting much better with this style. Although Demiricous is presenting their self as an ensemble, with using a good technique of all the instruments, Nate Olp is the front man who you cannot avoid. His presence on this album is convincing me. Comparing their previous album with this one, I can certainly hear a big improvement. Their first album was not bad at all. But it is remarkable that they have gained this improvement in more than a year. All the compositions of these album are worked out well.
And so is the whole feeling I have with this album. It sounds clear, crisp and fresh. But is it all new or never done before, of course not. I can recommend this album to all the old school thrash fans who are looking for something more. And try to see this band when they are touring in your neighbourhood. With Demiricous on stage it is a guarantee for a big mosh party on the floor.
