HELSTAR (USA)
THE KING OF HELL AFM-Records
Written by Frederik Lambrecht on Thursday 16 October, 2008. Last updated on Thursday 16 October, 2008
It's already been thirteen years ago that the American thrash/speed/power metal band Helstar created their last full length-album titled "Multiples of Black". Sadly, this was an album that couldn't fulfil the expectations of many listeners. Everybody taught they would bring forward another album with the same qualities of their earlier masterwork "Nosferatu", but they couldn't reach that level, and failed to live up the expectations.

Well, they've set foot on the metal soil again, and now they've returned with the killer album "The King of Hell". Fifty minutes of total demolition, nine tracks that will transform the listeners into evil disciples of the King of Hell himself. Vocalist James Rivera has developed his voice by the years, and again on this release, he proves that the older you get, the better you can be. Man, what a magnificent voice, one of the better heavy metal voices I've ever heard on this planet. Rivera is at his best on this one, you may count on that. And what to say about Russel DeLeon, this man handles his drum sticks with ultimate perfection, and provides the listeners some fantastic heavy drumming on this album. Also the guitar-tandem Barragan and Trevino are setting down one of their better performances, along with bass-player Abarca. "The King of Hell" has got a fat production, and is filled with tight compositions. On this release, Helstar has taken a harder, faster and more modern road, and I'm sure that every fan and every metal listener will be stunned by this one.

Listen to the track "Wicked Disposition", where the riffs and solo's are that great, that you would instantly re-listen it. Also the title track "The King of Hell" is full of many great solo's and opens with a magnificent upcoming scream from Rivera. But the best track on this album is without doubt "Pain will be thy Name". Oh my god, that intensity and the splendid voice of Rivera, well, I have no words for it, it's devastating ... you just got to check it out!

Well, I can and will praise this album to every motherfucker that likes the best music style in the world. Yes metal heads, this album is a must-have in your music collection. Everybody's got to give it a listen, yes, even the unborn fetus.
Hopefully we won't have to wait another thirteen years, because I definitly want more from those Americans.
Get this one, and join the king of hell down below. I already worship Helstar, and I'm sure you'll be next. Pfuu, talking about a comeback!
