WHAT DOESN'T KILL US...
Written by Osvaldo Rocha on Thursday 23 April, 2009. Last updated on Wednesday 06 May, 2009
"Was mich nicht umbringt, macht mich stärker"
Friedrich Nietzsche

After several years, 11 hard years, these guys have come along "con dos cojones" (with two balls), like the Spanish say. Only Daniel Millan (Guitar) has survived from the original line-up, but Miguel Rocha (Vocals and Guitars), Santiago Garcia (Bass) and Alejandro Martinez (Drums) seem to be disposed to slog their guts out and die for the band. That's the impression I get after reading their detailed biography and listening to this piece of metal art, beyond labels, pure fuckin' Metal, Old-School Heavy Metal.

In fact, I've met dozens of albums by Spanish bands in Spanish, but there are not so many in English. Well, these musclemen manage great vocals and lyrics in English, in opposition to some other almost unintelligible Spanish or Italian bands. They went through a damn hell looking for a singer before and after Mr. Galenov, and finally decided to stay on their own, with Miguel taking the front duties, which has been a good decision so far.

This history of courage they own is perfectly reflected in their songs: full of powerful riffs and sharpened solos. Their Trash influences are clear, they refresh the validity of the classic Pantera, Death Angel, Testament, Megadeth and Metallica adding modern lines and of course, a great mastering due to Mr. Mika Jussila directly into the Finnbox Studios. The result is a top-quality album loaded with 10 songs that certainly kick ass.

These guys are pissed off of waiting, in "Decade", for example, Miguel says "My hopes and bones are almost broken" while a riff drills your ears, and something similar happens with the rest of the album but it never ever becomes flat. In "Cross of shame" -maybe my favorite- you can taste some right pace changes together with a nice burning solo, there you may understand what I'm talking about when I say that this sounds fresh though it is Old-School Metal. Right after the intro "...Makes us stronger" proves what they are made of and creativity goes on with "Seeds of hate" and "The Hole" till the end. Extra info: the bass player was a reverend. That's the way!
