SOLACIDE (FIN)
BAPTIZED IN DISGUST Self Released
Written by Frederik Lambrecht on Tuesday 26 May, 2009. Last updated on Tuesday 26 May, 2009
The latest demo from the Finnish Melodic Black metal band Solacide was on my desk for a couple of months, and I must honestly admit that AM was forgotten about "Baptized in Disgust", because this demo already was spread out in February 2009.
But now I've considered this demo as a main priority between all the received promo's, and after some listening-sessions I've made up my thoughts.
This is their fourth demo since the beginning of the band, but they haven't been noticed yet by one of the many labels. And that's a little bit a shame, because what those guys have recorded isn't bad at all.
Three songs are on "Baptized in Disgust", and if I should link a band to them then I tend mostly towards Dark Funeral. Solacide has put their music in a more modern jacket, but without losing the straight-forward feeling. Off course the typical black metal elements are provided in this demo, like for example the dark feeling and the shredding leads. But also some thrash-attacks from the guitars are hidden in this demo, like those in track "Disgust". Also the voice from Korkmaz is spitting venom in the eyes of God, and makes this a good black metal music piece. Listen to the riff in track "God on Fire" accompanied with his voice and try to tell me that this isn't a great combination from those guys, so I can punch you in the face because your god damn wrong. No, definitely take a listen to the songs from their space, and let's hope for them that all their hard work in the past years may be rewarded by a labeldeal.
