In September 2009, the Australian folk metal band Claim the Throne delivered us their second creation since existence. "Ale Tales" is the title of this new EP, and when I received this album, I thought, man, what a great album-box I receive here. In this box there's a DVD and a CD available, so I must admit that I was impressed with the presentation of this EP. Okay, enough said about their excellent box haha, let's go down to the evaluation of their music...
Folk and metal, folk and metal, nothing more, nothing less, but executed in a magnificent way. In the music there's a lot of movement and schwung audible, and I'm sure any listener won't sit stil when listening to this release! This 5-headed band, included a woman who play the keyboards, have created a masterpiece in this style, and all folk fanatics that have a love for metal, will be very thrilled by "Ale Tales". The hits on this album definitely are tracks "Set Sail on Ale" and "Two Pints of Honey & A Barrel Full of Beer", because those tracks have the best choruses, and are real sing-a-long tracks.
You'll hear different instruments pass the reveu, like for example keyboards, guitars, a mouth harp, percussion, trumpet ... The only flaw on this EP is definitely the short length of this album, because after less than 12 minutes you have to press the repeat button again. But, this album makes you happy, so you won't be able to resist another listening session. Great work and the DVD is a cute extra and it contains following extra's:
1. Set Sail on Ale (video clip)
2. Only the Brave Return (release party)
3. Claim the Throne "Behind the Scene) cute extra!
