CALES (CZE)
KRF Metal Breath Production
Written by Ronald on Wednesday 03 March, 2010. Last updated on Wednesday 03 March, 2010

Ok…here we have the newest release from this Czech tribal band Cales, the album itself is entitled simply “KRF” and is licensed through Metal Breath Productions.

Why do we label Cales as a tribal band?...well very simple, if you listen their stuff, immediately some very strong influences of celtic/folk/European traditional music stuff, will appear, let’s put in this way, this is that type of band that relies more on an approach dealing with folkloric concepts introducing some metal elements. If you ask me, that’s pretty childish…you know…appealing to the proud of being this or that…I don’t know, I think I’m too old for that…ha ha ha

But going back to the music, this is pretty much more into drumming mid tempos structures, emphasizing the guitars melodies that are the main sources to build that medieval sense they seem to search and like so much. Vocally the work is pretty well done, I liked so much that old school thrash tone he has because allows to add some sort of aggressiveness to the overall proposal, at this point, I recommend to listen the 2nd track, is much more Death Metal and is where you can see that Cales has really huge potential.

The overall sound production is pretty heavy, there are some passages reminding me Immortal album “Sons of Northern Darkness”, which is pretty cool I think. So there you go…a well produced album of a Czech band that plays a type of metal conceived more from folkloric perspectives that probably is going to delight many people around fans of this type of things.
